5 REASONS WHY THIS IS UNFOLDED IS MORE SUSTAINABLE
Did you know that fashion accounts for 10% of global emissions and is the second most polluting industry in the world? Fast fashion actually now accounts for more emissions than The Uk, France and Germany combined. Scary huh?
We all need to make more sustainable choices but it’s often difficult to do so - they’re often more expensive or you don’t really know if you can trust them.
This is Unfolded is a fashion brand that is an easy sustainable solution to you to switch to, over 10,000 women already have.
Here are 5 reasons why This is Unfolded is a more sustainable solution than anything you’ve seen before.
1 | PRODUCTION
30% of new products made are never sold - the biggest crisis for sustainability in fashion. At This is Unfolded we design everything with input from our Unfolders, our community of shoppers, over 2,500 women now help us design everything we do. Once we’ve designed a collection we then only start production after we’ve taken orders - removing this waste from the process.
2 | CUTTINGS AND OFFCUTS
We work with factories to create processes that reduce any waste that happens during the production of your clothes from fabric waste. Where this is unavoidable we utilise the offcut to make facemasks, line our bags with or donate to local causes in India to be remade into rugs or other materials.
3 | SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING AND LOGISTICS
We offset the emissions generated by our logistics and only utilised recycled and biodegradable packaging.
4 | SUSTAINABLE FABRICS
We only utilise natural fibres in our clothes or recycled materials - meaning there are no first time man made materials in any of the clothes we sell. For cottons and viscose we source organic and certified sources.
5 | WATER USAGE
We work with environmentally friendly mills who reuse and recycle water during production.
We’re still not perfect but we’re a lot closer to it than any sustainable collection from big brands or retailers. Ohhh and we use the money we save from removing the waste to fund children in education.
